Declaration on digital accessibility

The Berlin Professional School of the HWR Berlin strives to make its website accessible to all users. The digital accessibility statement is required by the Berlin Act on Accessible Information and Communication Technology (BIKTG Bln). The technical requirements for accessibility are derived from the Ordinance on the Creation of Accessible Information Technology in accordance with the Disability Equality Act (Barrierefreie-Informationstechnik-Verordnung - BITV 2.0).

What does the digital accessibility statement refer to?

The digital accessibility statement refers to the central website www.berlin-professional-school.de of the Berlin Professional School of the HWR Berlin.

When was the accessibility statement created?

The digital accessibility statement was first created in September 2023 and updated in June 2025. The website was evaluated through a self-assessment process involving manual checks.

How accessible is the website?

The website of the Berlin Professional School of the HWR Berlin was published in September 2018 in a newly designed and reprogrammed version. The accessibility requirements applicable at the time were implemented as far as possible. These include sufficient contrast, basic tab navigation (also in forms), and machine readability. The HTML page structure is cleanly implemented, elements such as tables and overlays have been implemented in an accessible manner, and the pages are optimized for mobile devices.

Nevertheless, the website only partially meets the requirements of BITV 2.0.

Which areas are only partially accessible or not accessible at all?

Subtitling of videos

  • Most videos are subtitled. The spoken word is transcribed, but not sounds, gestures, environmental conditions, or similar elements.

Alternative texts for non-text content

  • We strive to provide alternative texts for non-text content (for images, graphics, and similar elements). However, there are still some elements that do not yet have alternative text. We are working on providing alternative text for all elements.

Colors and contrasts

  • Some graphic elements and texts do not have sufficient color contrast.

Elements with slider function

  • The Berlin Professional School website uses elements with a slider function that are not yet accessible. These elements will be technically adapted and are expected to have a pause button by fall 2025, which will allow the slider function to be turned on and off manually.

Documents

  • Some documents on the Berlin Professional School website are accessible. Newly created documents are designed to be accessible. Due to the large number of documents, e.g., in the IMB / BPS Working Papers, it will not be possible to make all documents accessible.

Please contact us if you require a specific document in an accessible format. Thank you.

We are constantly working to improve the accessibility of our website and remove existing barriers.
