As a business engineer Michael was kind of undecided which field of business or engineering to join. Yet unaware of the potential of Controlling (managerial accounting) he joined of the leading German consulting companies for Controlling in 1996 to experience a steep learning curve an contribute to CTcon´s rapid and international growth. Scientific research lead to a doctoral degree in 2001 based on the first empirical justification of controllers´ contribution to company success. Strategic projects at Porsche kept him fascinated – and the cars still do so – until in 2002 he joined an internet company to develop and manage growth in the B2B marketing market. As a member of the management board he was responsible for business development, key account management, controlling and the development and growth of the Berlin office of NetSkill with 13 employees. 2012 the rapidly growing market of Social Media Monitoring led him to direct business development at complexium in Berlin until he started as a professor for Controlling / Managerial Accounting in October that same year. Controlling and its potential and changes with respect to internet-based technologies still are his favourite field of research and teaching.
